Micellar waters, tonics, floral waters, hydrosols: what is the difference?
These essential products in our beauty rituals do not have the same function.

Micellar water contains "micelles", micro particles that "absorb" and trap impurities from the face. They remove light makeup and impurities from the skin, without rinsing. Micellar water will therefore remove makeup and cleanse the skin.
Tonic , also called tonic water or toner, is a synergy generally composed of water, floral waters and active ingredients beneficial for the skin such as aloe vera or hyaluronic acid. It completes and perfects cleansing and makeup removal because it will, among other things, remove makeup residue as well as traces of limestone present in tap water.
The tonic will also prepare the skin to receive its treatments by making the epidermis permeable: the creams, serums and oils applied afterwards will thus penetrate optimally and will be even more effective.
Floral water , or hydrosol, fulfills the same function as tonic, except that it comes from a single plant (rose, orange blossom, cornflower, etc.).
The difference between floral water and hydrosol? The term "hydrosol" is used to designate the aromatic water that remains at the end of the essential oil distillation process. Hydrosol is therefore water that has been used for distillation and which is very weakly loaded with aromatic molecules, those that have not been grouped in the essential oil.
“Hydrolat” is therefore in reality a more generic and technical term, while “floral water” is a term which specifies the nature of the (flower) hydrolat.
In cosmetics, the term "floral water" is generally used to designate hydrosols, whether they come from flowers or not, simply because the term is simpler and more common.
